Till date, several people have been affected globally by the novel Corona virus and the count is likely to increase. People across the globe are following social distancing rules to try to limit the spread of the virus. We are witnessing country-wide lockdown in many countries as the virus continues to spread rapidly. Over 40,000 people have succumbed to the contamination with several countries imposing states of emergencies.
Quarantines can be stressful but being organized and informed can help you reduce anxiety and follow your daily routine. Here are some tips on how to carry on with everyday life during the outbreak.
Tip 1: Make space for new things
When was the last time you cleaned your fridge? Clearing out any old and expired foods or just giving your fridge a makeover makes room for you to load up on protein, vegetables and healthy fats, especially non-perishable items like canned goods. Keep your grains and beans in an airtight container and store them in a cool, dry place.
Tip 2: Start with fresh foods
Before digging into your supply of non-perishables, try to cook with all of your fresh foods in the form of vegetables, fruits and protein. Depending on how severe the quarantine, you should try to store up at least one week’s worth of fresh foods at a time. Another way is to prep fresh meals and store them in the freezer. This way you can avoid processed foods and eat healthy.
Tip 3: Workout at home
Used to going to the gym or being outdoor for some cardio? In quarantine, however, that’s not an option. At-home workouts employ bodyweight against everyday surfaces and can be a good replacement for gyms. But, if you are not a hardcore weight-lifter, home workouts like squats, push-ups, etc. are perfect to keep you fit even in the quarantine.
Tip 4: Limit your media exposure
Today as various parts of the world are getting affected by the virus, our lives are shutting down for months. The growing concerns about the virus may lead to overestimating a threat and underestimating the protocols that needs to be followed. It is advisable to stay clear of sensational media and focus on essential information providers like the World Health Organization, United Nations and various Government bodies.
Tip 5: Connect with people digitally
It’s important to remember that self-isolation doesn’t mean you are alone. It can be hard for people to not see their family members, friends or coworkers for long periods. Stay connected through phone calls, chats and video calls. It’s a good way to manage the quarantine blues. It’s especially important to reach out to elder people so that they don’t feel isolated.
The ultimate tip is also the largest defence against contracting the Corona virus. Wash your hands for 20 seconds or longer and do it often. Encourage your friends and family to follow this necessary step. Hand-sanitizers can also be effective in disinfecting surfaces and hands for most germs. It’s not an absolute replacement for washing your hands with soap. Follow these useful guidelines to keep yourself on track during this quarantine. On behalf of everyone at Rama Group, we hope you stay at home and stay safe.
